THURSDAY ART AND DINNER DATE CHALLENGE

                                                    Statue

This Bitter Earth
Well, what fruit it bears
This Bitter Earth.
And if my life is like the dust that
hides the glow of a rose
What good am I...Heaven only Knows.

This Bitter Earth
Yes, can be so cold.
Today you are young,
too soon you're old.
But, while a voice within me cries,
I'm sure someone may answer my call!
And this bitter earth may not be so bitter after all.

This Bitter Earth
What good is love that no one shares?
And if my life is like the dust that
hides the glow of a rose.
What good am I...Heaven only knows.

THE POWER OF POSITIVITY WORDS ART CHALLENGE

                                                               Art/Creativity

Here is another digital art piece for the Power Of Positivity Art Challenge.

Michelangelo, the famed Italian artist and sculptor, once said, "I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free."

This quote beautifully captures the essence of Michelangelo's artistry and approach to his craft. It speaks to the transformative power of an artist's vision and their relentless pursuit to bring that vision to life. Essentially, Michelangelo saw the potential hidden within a block of marble, and through his masterful hands, he chiseled away the excess until the angel, which had always resided within the stone, was finally set free.

The significance of this quote lies not only in its metaphorical implications but also in its deeper philosophical underpinnings. It sparks a profound consideration: What if life itself is akin to a block of marble, and each of us, the sculptors, holds the power to unleash our true selves, our potential, by carving away the societal expectations, self-doubt, and limitations that surround us? This unexpected philosophical concept invites us to reflect upon our own lives, urging us to examine whether we too can unearth the hidden angels within ourselves. Much like Michelangelo, we often find ourselves trapped within the confines of societal norms and expectations, molded by external influences that shape our thoughts and actions. However, buried deep within each of us is a unique essence, waiting to be discovered and unleashed upon the world.

The angel in the marble represents that authentic self - the purest form of our being, untainted by external pressures or the fear of judgment. Michelangelo's approach to his art evokes a common struggle many face - the fear of revealing our true selves, of embracing our uniqueness and daring to live authentically.

Just as the sculptor must confront the daunting task of chiseling away at the marble, we too must confront our fears, the doubts that hold us back, and the constraints that confine us. The process of carving the angel from the marble is not a swift and simple one; it is a labor of love, patience, and perseverance. Similarly, discovering and freeing our inner angels requires commitment, self-reflection, and an unwavering determination. It is a journey that demands us to confront our vulnerabilities and embrace our strengths.

But just as Michelangelo's artistry rewarded him with masterpieces admired for centuries, so too can our journey of self-discovery bring about immense fulfillment and a sense of purpose. By releasing our inner angels, we create a path towards self-fulfillment, a life in alignment with our true passions, talents, and dreams. Michelangelo's quote serves as a poignant reminder of the transformative power of art, but it also carries a profound lesson for all aspects of life. It urges us to not settle for mediocrity or conformity, but to push beyond our limits, to see the potential within ourselves and others, and to believe in our ability to carve our own path.

So, let us take inspiration from Michelangelo's words, recognizing that within each of us lies an angel waiting to be set free. Let us muster the courage to embark on our personal sculpting journey, chiseling away the layers that obscure our true selves. For it is in this pursuit that we can truly live an authentic and purposeful life, forever celebrating the unique masterpiece that we are.

I did not write the above paragraph but found this amazing post while looking up the quote and so I knew it was perfect for this challenge but the credit is due to the author, The Socratic Method: Michelangelo: 'I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free.' — The Socratic Method (socratic-method.com

ART JOURNAL JOURNEY ART CHALLENGE

                                                       Poem

I used two different styles to create the digital journal pages for this theme. I could not decide which one to post so I decided to go ahead and post both of them! Hope you like my contribution!

This is my contribution to the Art Journal Challenge. I was so inspired by the theme and was drawn to the poem entitled "What Life Should Be" written by Pat A. Fleming. The message of the poem is very simple but it is the words that are so powerful in their truth. Everything in life is a choice that we must make and as artists, we must believe that it is our choice to create art to inspire and that should always be our motivation! When we create art for inspiration, through our vast and great imagination, we have also created a little something of ourselves to "make our mark on earth"!

THE MIDWEEK MUSE ART CHALLENGE

                                                                         Unicorn

The definition of Unicorn can mean a very rare or valuable thing or person.  Something that is highly desirable but very difficult to obtain. The Greeks, Babylonians, and Persians gave the Unicorn the symbolism and meaning of mysticism, magic, health, and purity. The first known depiction of a Unicorn was found in the Lascaux Caves of modern-day France which dates back to 15,000 BCE. In Medieval times, it was said that Unicorn horns had magical healing properties and by drinking water out of a Unicorn horn would cure many diseases.
